I have found that I am more expressive with writing than talking so I'm taking it to my blog. It's 11:22 pm and I can't sleep so bare with me if this doesn't make sense.
I have been feeling very under appreciated lately. Not just by one or two people, but by a lot of people--friends, family. I have a very select group of friends that I keep near and dear to me. The rest of my friends only call when they need something or something so very dramatic is happening that they want everyone to know. I'm tired of one sided friendships. I'm tired of male friends trying to cross the friendship line with me. I'm tired of male friends telling me they have feelings for me then treating me like total garbage. I'm tired of "family" members (friends that are so close they're like family) forgetting about me even when I'm waving the red flag that says "help me, I need you".
I've decided that I just need to fend for myself. I need to stop relying on others. If I want something or something needs to be done or if I'm being mistreated (in my mind) I'm going to remedy the problem. I'm tired of waiting on others. I can't wait anymore for anyone! There is no reason! While I wait for you, my life keeps moving. My life needs to move in the direction thats best for me, not in the direction that's best for me while I wait for you.
I am 24 years old. I am a mom. I am college educated. And I support myself. I don't need anyone. If you're in my life it's because I want you there. I love my friends and family but it's time to cut the cords. I love talking with my friends (even you crazy ones lol) and bitching with them. I love my family/"family" dearly. But honestly, I'm done with the crap. Your crap is your crap. I'll listen and I'll give my advice (if you want it) but I'm not going to fix it. I have my own crap to fix.
Okay, I'm done...this may not make sense but give me a break...I've got Nyquil in my system, it's late and I'm mad LOL
PS: Thanks Nicole for letting me talk things out with you on your drive home a few minutes ago :)

Why Men Marry Bitches...
Have I ever mentioned that I seem to be a doormat to guys?? I'm very much your typical nice girl that bends over backwards for anyone without ever thinking about me. I'm very much the people pleaser and I want everyone to be happy.
I came across the book Why Men Marry Bitches and wow. That's all I can say. I'm thoroughly impressed. Technically you don't need to be a "bitch". It's hard to explain. But it was a great book and I will no longer be a doormat!
Oh, and for those of you that don't know: only 26 days til Cali!!! Woo hoo!!!

Sneeze, Sneeze and sn--breathe
I have been sneezing twice in a row with the feeling wanting to sneeze a third time but it gets stuck. I've been hit with the cold bug...again. I was sick right before I left for VA and now I've got the cruds again. Blech...
On a lighter note I've decided I needed a life makeover. I'm looking to get out of CO and head back to the great city of San Diego. I miss it there. I've started the job search for out there (while I maintain the search for CO in the mean time).
While I'm unemployed I've decided that I'm gonna get back in shape (for like the 100th time) and I joined 24 Hour Fitness. They had a killer deal and the cute guys weren't bad to look at :)
I'm off to die...I mean to lay on the couch and watch Ugly Betty.

Ah Virginia
Well as most of you know, CJ and I traveled to Virginia to see my friend Curt. We had a blast. We walked everywhere, road boats, played video games and ate as much food as possible!
Is it bad that I miss Curt? Cause I do. I want to see him again soon. He'll be back in CO for a few days in May for a wedding. Maybe I'll have to go visit him again soon...
Anyway, he received some good news today. His orders might be Camp Pendleton, CA. Woo-hoo!!! I'm so excited. I could just bust! I hope he gets San Diego because is the best place ever LOL I was stationed there and honestly couldn't have asked for a cooler place :) Plus, it'll be more fun to go see him!
____________________________________________________________
In other news, I cleaned out all my scrapbooking stuff. I have a ton that I don't want. Seriously, it's alot. Anyone want it? I'll just give it to you! Do you know where I could dispose of it? I don't want to throw it away...hmmmm
____________________________________________________________
CJ, wow CJ. He never ceases to amaze me. The one day he doesn't have to get dressed for school he throws a fit and wants to get dressed. In real clothes. It's pajama day at school...what kid doesn't love pajama day?? Mine obviously LOL

Look what I got!!!
The hills are alive with the sound of music....
...well, not really but that's how I feel right now! I want to go prance along the hills and through the neighborhood. I have my tickets! Yay yay yay!
Even though they were $100 more than they would have been a couple days ago I was still able to nab them. I'm sooo excited! I have even prepaid for my airport parking! How amazing is that? I love the internet....

ugh
It's early...well for me anyway. It's about 6:20 am and I'm sleepy. I'm trying to make travel arrangements and nothing is getting done easily. I can't find a flight without a bazillion connections. I can't pay with it all on one card (thank you daily limits). Hotels near the base are annoyingly expensive...yada yada yada. Why can't something that's supposed to be fun also be painless?? Is this a sign a shouldn't go??
Go where you might be asking. Well, long story short, I'm head to Portsmouth, Virginia for Valentine's Day weekend. My friend, Curt, is stationed out there :) It was going to be a surprise. I was just gonna show up, but that's been a lot harder that I imagined.
I am not familiar with the area at all. I'll have my son with me and needed to know where to avoid. Do I really need a rental car? Is he on duty that weekend or working? Yes, I used to be prior Navy and I know that I always got duty at the most inconvenient times, so it was a worry of mine. I had to tell him that I was indeed coming out there.
CJ's excited for the airplane ride but I had already told him that for his bday he'd go on an airplane to Disneyland. He thinks that this is that time. I explain it's not and he doesn't get it. I'm in deep doo doo LOL
Wish me luck ladies on surviving this travel booking adventure. Then keeping myself healthy and un-injured so I can leave the 13th! Yay me!!
God Bless!

School, School, don't be late...
Remember that rhyme from playing jump rope at school? Well, that's one of the hundreds we used to sing. I couldn't think of a clever headline (well, none of them are ever clever!).
I just had to brag to everyone...I got a B on my first Nutrition test! Woo hoo! I'm so pumped :) Hopefully I stay motivated til at least March when I get spring break then will come back refreshed and ready to go til May :)

It's Tax Time
Well, as you all know, it's tax time. I love this time of year. I think I'm one of a few that can't wait to file taxes so I have spending money! I just did my taxes and am currently doing a happy dance in my chair.
Here's the plan. Once my e-file refund has been put into my bank account you can expect that I will be buying my plane tickets to Cali!! I can't wait. I get to see my old Navy buddies and I'll be able to check out how it's changed. I plan on doing more with my refund but for now this is all that I'm sharing. More details to come!

Working out at home...
I'm a huge fan of working out at home...well, when I actually do workout. I've been more motivated lately and am pretty excited about that.
I don't know about you but I have the ball, the ab thingy, free weights etc. Who knew that all you need is a toddler and an infant??
Thanks to "Life at the White House" for posting this video! I highly suggest reading the blog...I love it :)

School starts tomorrow!!!
Yes, I am excited about school starting. It is my first day at a four year college. I could just die from excitement. At the same time, I could also pass out from being overwhelmed.
On Saturday, I bought my text books. I walked into the bookstore and about had a stroke. My school houses three schools: Metro State (where I go), Colorado University and Community College of Denver. Each school has their own section of the book store. I walked in and just had a huge overwhelming sense of "Oh crap". I almost cried. I'm used to a very small community college book store and now I'm standing in a 2 story, ginormous bookstore! I made it through the entire process without shedding a single tear.
However, I'm very nervous. I'm ready for this. This is what I've been striving for the last two years. I can do this, but I'm still very nervous.
I ask ya'll pray for me. This is huge for me. Yes, most of my classes are online, but Fridays I'm on campus all day...

The best day ever!!!
So, as many of you know (or don't know, can't remember who I've told), I work as a personal assistant to Patty Burling. She is the owner of Simply Elegant events and Mountain Avenue Bridal. I have hit my six week mark working with her and I must say, I love my job...and I'm great at it!
Let's start with Saturday. Saturday I sold a dress. An expensive one. It was our giveaway weekend (we were giving away a Vegas trip, limo service for their wedding and a hair/makeup for the bride) and we were booked solid. I worked five hours and sold one dress. Not bad for someone that doesn't really work the boutique!
So typically my duties are do to personal and professional duties for the owner. They generally include anything from cleaning her house to arranging a flight...anything...think Devil Wears Prada. That's the kind of duties I have.
Well, I own my own company and it's just not going anywhere. So, I told Patty that I'd work for her for longer than my initial thought was. That's when she started throwing good news to me!
First piece: I have two titles now: Personal Assistant and Wedding Planner!! Woo hoo!! I could shit a brick...literally. The other girl, Megan, is great at what she does and as a team we are going to rock!
Second piece: I am the "go to" girl for our new branch that just opened in Glenrock, WY. I will be in charge of appointments/scheduling and also questions. I can't wait!
Thirdly: I'm going to do a majority of the writing for our NEW magazine...She Said Yes! I can't wait. When I really try (aka putting effort in) I can write like nobodies business. I can't wait.
Overall, today was a good day. I love my job. My job makes me happy. My life is getting happier and happier.
Hope y'all had a great day! God bless!

Not Me! Monday

Yep, it's Monday. I've been neglecting my blog lately, so I thought Monday would be a nice fresh start. Thanks MckMama for this wonderful therapy! So let's get this started!
I did not ignore my blog since New Years Eve. I did not forget about it.
I did not break my word on doing the "picture a day" for 365 days. I didn't "forget" about it, I just didn't do it.
I did not give myself a coronary after seeing how far in debt one of my friends is. I did not worry about if she could make payroll. And I most certainly did not consider putting my resume out to other places!
I did not take CJ's words of "Mommy, you stink" that he yelled in my face, to heart. Nope, not me! I didn't start balling after he had been punished to his room!
I did not get started on my laudry, continue through with it, then forget the last load was in the washer for three days. I then restarted it. I then did not forget it was there again and forget it for another couple of days. Finally, after the third wash it was remembered :)
I did not get lazy and not take down my Christmas tree. I also did not consider just adding red and pink hearts to it and call it a "Valentines Day Tree". Nope! I would never do such a thing like that!
And finally, I did not call and harass the HR department of my old job to find out when W2's will be sent out. I really don't need the tax return this year!
What haven't you done??

The last day of 2008....
As 2008 comes to a close we all seem to look into the past year to see what we've learned and what we can do better for 2009. For myself, I did a lot of growing as an individual. I felt heartbreak and happiness and learned to better myself through mistakes made.
I learned that no matter how much something hurts at one moment that it truly will get better. It doesn't usually happen immediately, but it does happen. I learned that I can do whatever I put my mind to, I just have to get up and actually do it! I learned that being a mom is so much more than just being a disciplinarian. It's about being there for your child in every way, shape and form no matter how crummy you are feeling. I learned that life has a way of surprising you when you least expect it and bringing something good in. The good may not last long but it's definitely something to look forward to.
I learned that good things may end due to circumstances that are out of your control. It doesn't matter how much you care for that person, some things just cannot be controlled. I learned that it's okay to be selfish sometimes and not answer your phone, or be at someone's constant beck and call. It's okay to just be you. Be comfortable in your skin and don't worry about what other people think.
I feel that the world is here from us to learn from. Take advantage of what you're given for free and run with the possibilities!
In 2009 I'm hoping that several things will happen.
1. I'd love for Amber Watson Events to take off. I want clients galore, but my goal is five.
2. I need to get off my rear end and get back into running. I miss my Navy body and good stress relief!
3. I'm going to start acting for me and only me. I will do everything for me. I will try not to care about what other people think. I want to be happy with me, bottom line.
I hope you all have a great 2009 and enjoy this last day of 2008.

The Biggest Loser
So, CJ and I are sitting here together watching The Biggest Loser. I've never really watched the show since the start of the second season. CJ is so funny watching this show. He's been learning numbers and each week he can count higher and higher. As each contestant is getting on the scale and the numbers flash on the screen CJ screams out "1-3-5" or whatever the numbers are. He's also huge on the crowd reaction. The louder the crowd gets the louder he gets...screaming, clapping, jumping up and down...it's too funny!
This show is pretty motivating but at the same time makes me realize how freakin lazy I've gotten! I know what I'm going to be doing starting ASAP! Guess I'll be joinging a gym and eating a lot better.
Gotta love the holidays...they always remind me of how lazy I've gotten! This year the thought was "wow, didn't fit in that shirt last year, maybe this year I'll have gotten lucky?" Yeah, not so much!
Anyone wanna join me on a fun filled adventure of getting in shape??

You'd never guess what he says....
Today has been such a fun day in the world of CJ. He has been playing so well. He's lost TV privledges so he's had to keep himself busy. We don't normally watch a ton of TV but today he's lost it all.
He has done some of the funny things today. For example:
He was rolling his cars and tractors all over the wood floor and he says "Cars, we go Mc Donnells (McDonalds)." He rolled them all to the other room and proceeded to pretend to eat with them. Once finished he says "I go poop. I be back." I cracked up laughing. He has been so fascinated with poop lately. I got him a book about dinosaur poop while at the museum. I'm looking forward to giving him that for Christmas :)
As most of you know, I'm a klutz so of course CJ has inherited that gene! He's bumped into things and slipped and ran into things all day. None of which result in a wound yet he throws himself on the floor and proceeds to scream for a band aid. We have these really awesome Little Einsteins band aids that apparently make you feel better! I think my favorite spot he asked for one today was his lip. We tried it and he ended up practically eating the band aid!
We made our weekly phone calls to the family. He loves talking on the phone. He spoke with Uncle Rick and Rick said that if he was good he'd play Candyland with him. CJ got all excited and said "I pay gama, papa, Rick, Sean and mommy Candyland" then went running off very excited. Hopefully he can maintain this excitement til the 23rd.
I'm looking forward to Christmas. I've been dreading it. I'm looking forward to it now. I've made up my mind that it's going to be great.
Merry Christmas!

I'm so proud!
Last night I was putting CJ to bed. I'll admit, I have been slacking the last couple weeks and letting him sleep in my bed. Last night though, I decided that I was going get him started back into the normal routine. Bath, story, sing a song then lights out.
So after our story last night I asked him what he wanted to sing.
CJ: Monkeys!
Me: We'll do two monkeys tonight, it's late. (It was nearing 10, we got home a bit late)
CJ: No, five two monkeys. He laughed. I love his laugh
Me: Okay, we'll do five monkeys but you have to help count, k? He then smiled at me and looked at me expectantly.
The way we sing the 10 Little Monkeys song is I'll sing the first word or two of a line then he finishes it. Usually he only says the main words. For example:
Me: Two little
CJ: Monkey!
Me: Jumping on the
CJ: Bed!
Me: One fell off and
CJ: Bumpeded head!
Me: Momma called the
CJ: Dodder
Me: And the doctor said?
CJ: No no monkeys jumped on bed!
But last night was sooo different. He said all the words. Down to the words like: his, more, the. He has started using prepositions correctly!
As you all know, he's been in speech for almost 7-8 months. I cannot express how excited I am! We have been working so hard to get him to talk. He has started enunciating his words and saying all the words in a sentence.
I know some of you are thinking, "big deal", but really, this is. CJ is close to a year and a half behind his peers and now he's starting to catch up. We have been working so hard for awhile and it's so great to see the time and dedication working!
In other news :) CJ and I are going to Denver this weekend and going to see the Parade of Lights. He has started realizing what Christmas is. He loves Christmas lights and trees. We're going to be learning the true meaning of Christmas this year as well.
CJ is growing so fast and I love it. He's no longer a baby anymore, but a little boy. He's very much a boy! He's become so imaginative and loves to pretend. He sings and dances and loves to tell stories. You would not recognize him!
